Развитие международных контактов

90310 апреля в рамках обменной программы учителей «Teachers for Global Classrooms International School» в Народную украинскую академию с визитом прибыли американские учителя Mary Joanne Loecher и Susan Pomasko, которые будут в течение 10 дней принимать активное участие в учебном процессе ХГУ «НУА», посетят уроки и лекции ведущих учителей и преподавателей нашего вуза и Специализированной экономико-правовой школы.

Знакомство учителей с городом началось с обзорной экскурсии по достопримечательностям Харькова. Большой интерес у гостей вызвало разнообразие культурных стилей архитектурных сооружений города, его храмы и музеи. Учителя посетили Мемориальный комплекс Славы в Лесопарке, познакомились со славными героическими страницами истории Харьковщины. Харьков с его традициями и современностью впечатлил наших гостей.

Mary Joanne Loecher, Social Studies and Language Arts Teacher

Gale Ranch Middle School

San Ramon, CA

Mary Joanne Loecher has been teaching in the San Ramon Valley for the past 18 years. She teaches Social Studies and Language Arts with a focus on ancient civilization history from early human through the fall of Rome. Her middle school students range in age from 10-14 years and contain a highly diversified population representing cultures worldwide. Mary Joanne is involved in the mentoring of new teachers with the focus on creating curriculum with "Rigor, Relevance and Relationships" as the key to success. She also presents workshops to her peers on literacy in the 21st century. She received her B.S. Education degree from the State University of New York at Fredonia and earned her Master’s in Education from the Ohio State University in curriculum design. She is married with three children. Her interests include piano and hiking. Her primary objectives for participating in TGC are to develop insights into how to connect her students, and students of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District, to the global community through technology and opportunities for collaboration available in the 21st century.

 

Susan Pomasko, Social Studies Teacher

Marlborough School

Marlborough, NH

Susan Pomasko has taught Social Studies for the past 20 years at Marlborough School, teaching grades 5-8.  She has a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, with certifications in Secondary Social Studies, Elementary, and Special Education.  She has served on the Professional Development Committee for the SAU#29 District.  She has facilitated a mentor training program for the SAU#29 District and provided training throughout the school year.  She acts as a site supervisor for methods and student teachers from Keene State College in Keene, NH.  She has published lessons for the Foreign Policy Research Institute Center and created a series of lessons for the book entitled, “Patriot’s Reward,” written by Stephen Clarkson.  She has served as a board member for the New Hampshire Council of Social Studies for three years. She has conducted conferences on Differentiated Instruction, Teaching Economics using Authentic Learning, and Teaching Social Studies using Literature and Project Based Curriculum.  She lives in New Hampshire with her husband of 35 years and has three daughters and a granddaughter.  She enjoys horseback riding, walking and fishing.  She is excited to participate in TGC to enhance the learning of her students and looks forward to sharing her international experiences with her school and community.
